Daniel & The River

Daniel & The River blend americana, rock and country into an organic sound where Nordic melancholy meets the American roots tradition. After winning P4 Nästa 2024 with To The Moon And Back—a song that received extensive airplay on Sweden’s national radio channel P4—and releasing the album North Meadow Ghosts, the band continues to develop its sound from the forests of Hälsingland, along the river Ljusnan, which inspired the band’s name.

The music of Daniel & The River originates from songs written by singer and songwriter Daniel Jonsson, who lives in Arbrå in the Hälsingland region of Sweden. Inspired by both the American roots tradition and life in the rural landscapes of Hälsingland, the songs began to take shape as stories about places, people and memories from small communities.

When Jonsson gathered a few musician friends to give the songs a fuller expression, Daniel & The River took form. The result was a band where americana and roots rock meet Scandinavian moods and atmospheres.

The band consists of Daniel Jonsson, drummer Marcus Losbjer (DiLeva, Wolverine), bassist Stefan Sköld (formerly of Nordman), guitarist Magnus “Blim” Söderblom, and Daniel Karlsson on keyboards.

Following the album North Meadow Ghosts the band has continued to develop its sound through the singles If You Ever Get Lonely Again and House in the Meadow. Their music moves between americana, rock and country and draws inspiration from the alternative americana and roots rock scene.
